Today is Valentine’s Day and of course this weeks theme is Love. I had some ideas floating around on what I wanted to photograph this week, but sometimes it is the simple things that often photograph the best.

The theme for this weeks photo is breakfast. Normally I don’t take the time to enjoy a bowl of cereal with toast, bacon and juice. But for the picture, I thought I would dress it up a bit and enjoy a nice sit down meal. I usually stand when I eat a bowl of cereal. It seems more natural to me to lean against the counter while enjoying my breakfast. I have always eaten my breakfast like that for as long as I can remember.

I was sort of looking forward to this weeks theme. I am not afraid of too many things, but the things I am scared of are hard to photograph. I decided a bridge could be an interesting thing to get a picture of. I checked the weather and was excited to see that there would be some fog to cover the bridge to make it seem more ominous. But when we approached the bridge, it was so foggy you could barely see anything. I was actually more grateful for that. I don’t like being able to see over the edge, and I have to be in the middle lane. I don’t know it is so much a phobia of heights or just that there isn’t much there to keep you from going over the edge.

I took Alexander out in the snow this afternoon in hopes of getting an abstract portrait of him throwing a snowball or building a snowman, but nothing was working right. I figured us standing next to each other for a shot of our boots was enough to satisfy this weeks challenge.

This week’s theme is Geometry. I was a bit stumped on this one and tried to think a little outside the box. I wanted to incorporate lines and shadows and I think I captured that pretty well.

This week, the theme is “Cold”. And it certainly has been around here. We have even had some snow on the ground already. But I thought that would be too easy to use for this week, so I went with something a little different. A tall glass of cold iced tea.

Instead of trying to keep up with a 365 picture project this year, I am working on Project 52. 52 weeks, 52 photos from 52 themes. For week one, the theme is “New”. I bought a new lens to start the year off right and it arrived today. I am so excited to add it to my line up in my bag.

I have a an obsession with buying hats for Alexander and having him model them for me. Usually he will sit for a picture or two, but today he was feeling extra anti-camera. I love how serious he can be and still be able make me smile. He is the reason I love to take pictures.
